my happy place

the closet
i really enjoy it when folks share their play spaces on their
various web sites and such.i thought since i have this new
camera that i am getting aquainted with,i would shoot a
few shots of my studio to share with you! it is a nice mix
of organized clutter and in these shots it is actually clean!
i love my old dresser, the deep drawers hold large sheets of
paper and the top three drawers are home to all of my
adhesives and paper punches.
the computer wall with all of its unsitely wires is seen
below next to my scanner and printer sitting on top of my
embellishment drawers...good stuff in those!
then my favorite spot...my art table...an old library table
my dh bought me for a birthday one year! all of the windows
hanging on the walls are from construction jobs tom has been
on..i love them.
just thought you should know! thanks for looking!

st.francis of assisi had this to say....

the work table
"the woman who works with her hands only is a laborer,
the woman who works with her hands and her head is a
craftswoman,
the woman who works with her hands, her head and her
heart is an artist".
done using foam stamps and paint...a few of my favorite
tools!

my baby~ist sister

my baby-ist sister,

phyllis,is having a birthday this week! i have always
loved this image of her...the original is of her & i
& jo(my other baby sister) and it is in color,my dad took
it of us ages ago.
i changed it to black & white ,then printed it on water-
colour paper, made the frame using basic grey
papers,lil'davis stencils,a more recent photo,scrap of ribbon
and way cool charm happy birthday baby~love ya lots!

what a gal...

calamity jane...you gotta love her.
i was struggling with what to do for the
"western"atc swap due apr 15th
then it occured to me...either annie oakley
who i admired as a little girl, even went as her
on halloween a couple of times or that salty
cowgirl calamity jane.well jane won out. i have been
watching the hbo series ~deadwood~ ,on dvd...and
calamity jane is my favorite character on this verrry
raw account of those days!
i used pink & flowers & a little bit of glitter to go
completely opposite of who this woman really was...
what a gal!

another of kate's beautiful pieces!
back in october,i was very fortunate
to have one of my pieces of art in a
juried exhibit at the foundry art centre,
this piece was a collaboration between
my good friend, lisa cook & i...an advent calendar
made of matchboxes as a "classroom" project
for helga @ artchix studio. lisa gave her boxes to me
(xo) and i decided to have them framed and
was convinced by many supportive friends
to enter the piece in the "paperwork:in,on & of paper
exhibit! the opening reception was pure magic...
a dream come true! the cherry on top was this gorgeous
bracelet from kate...during the reception i popped in to
see her in her foundry studio and she handed me a
pretty little beribboned box that held this tangible
evidence of that dream come true!

cute as 3 buttons

another precious piece by kate...
have you ever seen anything as clever and as
stylish as this before?! i think not! i am completely
in love with this bracelet!

cute as 3 buttons!

a few of my favorite things...

...these pieces were made by kate valleroy ..........
the set on the right, kate made for my husband to give
to me for Christmas this year...the color in these
pearls and the design of this piece is truly stunning!
the white set is a gift from me to myself...i have zero control
when i visit kate's delightful studio/gallery at the foundry
in st.charles...if you've been you know what i mean, if you
haven't been....what are you waiting for? it is an experience
not to be missed and kate is theee most precious soul you
will ever meet, hurry on over, maybe i'll see you there!
i will post more of kate's jewelry in the days to come!

Collage Cat Zine....i'm on the cover!

i am verrry happy and honored to be the cover
artist for this issue of the collage cat zine! when i
sent a scan of this to carla ( the zine cat ), i thought
she may consider it for the gallery section...i didn't
imagine it would end up on the COVER! how cooool
is that?! very cool.
i have been able to stretch my creative wings and
flex my artistic muscles
because of carla, ccz and the dezign team that is
made up of these supreme artists:

i'm on the cover!

the world and bud

this is my dad.a boy in all his glory!
this is a photo that i adore and have used it
so many times and in so many ways...this
is a simple cigar box lid, gently distressed and
made into a "frame" for my favorite image.
the negative around the picture was colored
with golden green gold & naphthol red medium
fluid acrylics.
