sew what?

my first prolonged effort at the singer....i got my very first
sewing machine in october for my 48th birthday.this morning i
planted myself firmly in front of the thing with a pot of coffee
and a hell bent determination and got to know it,using scraps of
paper and bits of fabric,i made a pile of "sample" stitches, but
only after i figured out and conquered the blankety-blank bobbin...
well just for today anyway, and eventually stitched many of the cards
i will be sending this Christmas....simple pleasure...finding time to use
an unfamiliar "tool"...sew fun!

I had to laugh at this post - I had such feelings of trepidation when I got my sewing machine over a year ago - then I sat and stared at it for months before actually using it. Took some friends coming over and threading it, showing me how to do that bobbin - in short, getting it all ready to go - before I sat down and whipped up a project! I'm still not too daring, lots and lots of stitches I haven't tried out - but I'm getting there!

It looks like you are well on your way - fabulous cards!!

Way cool cards, Denise! I am not much of a sewer myself, but I have figured out a little of my machine just for art projects. I used these papers for my holiday ATC's, but I cheated and used rub-on stitches! Gotta love 'em!

I'll be 48 next month and I've never dared to stitch on paper - you have set me a challenge for 12th night!

And I love your angel.

I love the cards. I turned 48 this October too. I have to ask, what day?
