thanks sweet friends! i had a really great day...perfect weather and the pleasant company of my cosmic mate,tom and our unusually happy to be with us dd,hannah...AND...big news,i was given my first sewing machine today...a very basic singer that i am anxious to get to know and play with!it is intimidating,but some of it is coming back to me after all these years....i am starting basically from scratch so any hints & tips you might share would go a long way in my gaining confidence with this thing! xoxoxoxo, denise
as far as that singer's concerned, i can offer you any help you need. it is like riding a bike though. it'll all come flooding back to you once you fire her up! but give me a ring if you need any little thing!

what i know about sewing machines could be placed in a thimble, but here is what i know.......
the pedal thing makes the needle move up and down, and you should keep your fingers away from the needle while it is moving. (he he)
